Administration of Vaccines
Dr. Smith's offices will be vaccinating adults age 18 years or older only.

We will not administer the Flu injection vaccine if you are:
  • Under the age of 18
  • Having a high fever
  • Allergic to eggs or egg proteins
  • Allergic to the preservative thimerosal
  • Pregnant or a nursing mother (See OBGYN)

Each year flu vaccine is mixed to protect you against some of the most probable strains of "killer flu" virus for that year, and the H1N1 virus. "Killer flu" is the 7-10 day flu, NOT the 1-2 day kind. Taking the flu vaccine will not protect you against the 1-2 day flu - it protects you against some of the most probable "killer flu" and H1N1 virus. It will not prevent illness caused by other viruses. If a "killer flu" shows up that is not included in the vaccine, the federal government will let us know and often an additional new vaccine made.
